The Open Democracy Advice Centre (ODAC) is looking to appoint (on a 3 month contract) an Events Assistant. The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Liaising with stakeholders and participants who are invited to attend seminars/workshops offered by ODAC.
- Arranging travel, accommodation and venues for ODAC staff/facilitators/consultants who will oversee such seminars/workshops.
- Ensuring that ODAC material for seminars/workshops is made available to participants at such workshops (this includes photocopying of material, ordering of material from service providers, liaising with couriers etc).
- Marketing/inviting stakeholders to attend ODAC seminars/workshops.
- Ensuring that expenditure is aligned to the applicable budget for seminars/workshops.
Experience/Skills required:
- 2 years experience in events coordination;
- Project management work experience would be advantageous;
- 3 year diploma/degree in a related field.
- Be a forward thinker who is able to proactively plan and multi-task;
- Able to work under pressure against strict deadlines;
- Be an effective communicator who is considerate, professional and able to speak in English and Xhosa with a third language an added advantage;
