African Whistleblowing Support Network

In 2017, the Open Democracy Advice Centre began the process of developing an African-centred network of organisations and individuals that provide support, and advance the rights of, whistleblowers.

While we are committed to remaining focused on the needs of all the members, from the outset our objectives are to:

  1. Create and coordinate a network that advocates for legal and policy frameworks which support whistleblowing, but within their specific socio-political contexts.
  2. Build and strengthen the capacities of identified organisations in developing laws and policies that advance whistleblowing and participating in international advocacy conversations on emerging issues of importance in whistleblowing.
  3. Provide a platform for sharing experiences and lessons in whistleblowing advocacy with identified organisations.
