ODAC helps individuals and organisations access their rights in respect of three key pieces of legislation, namely:
- The Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA), which provides for access to any information held by the state or by another person that is required for the exercise or protection of one's rights.
- The Protected Disclosures Act (PDA), which protects employees, in both the private and public sector, who disclose unlawful or corrupt conduct by their employers from occupational detriment.
- The Promotion of Administrative Justice Act, which gives people the right to ask for reasons for administrative decisions.
